Dev-Tool Lite – the live window
As of 30 October 2026 · Beta 22 Hotfix 2 (0.2.0-beta.22.2)
Dev-Tool Lite opens a window beside your running debug game. You can try changes and inspect game state without placing the controls inside the game window.
| Area | What you use it for |
|---|---|
| Volume | Adjust volumes in the running debug game |
| Teleporter | Reach rooms and positions while testing |
| Walk recorder | Record walking paths |
| Sound sources | Place sound sources while testing |
| Game state | Inspect the current game state |
Start
Close AGS before installation. Open the Manager, select your project and choose “Install in project” on the Dev-Tool Lite tile. Game.agf is backed up automatically. Reopen the project in AGS, start the debug build, then choose “Start live window” in the Manager.
The game module and window work together. Without the module, the window is not a standalone tool. The module is inactive in release builds.
Values to script
This tab currently requires a matching F.o.A. AudioManager.asc. If it is missing, a notice is shown. A general audio module for other games is still planned. Rebuild the game after changing script values; a live adjustment does not automatically become a saved script change.
If it does not connect
Check the selected project, installation of the complete package and whether a debug game is running. Opening the live window with F8 is not available yet; start it through the Manager.
